South African law sets strict time limits for submitting RAF claims.

Standard Claims

You must submit your claim within 3 years from the date of the accident if the responsible driver is known.

Hit-and-Run Accidents

If the responsible driver cannot be identified, the claim must be lodged within 2 years.

After Lodging a Claim

Once a valid claim is lodged, you generally have up to 5 years from the accident date to issue summons if the RAF has not settled.
